Get hype for Froggie Games
They're the best new trend and I am not lowering myself to frog puns.
Let's face it- this year has been all about frogs.
This week I reviewed Kero Blaster- a frog pixel art game that I did not expect to like as much as I did. However, that is far from all I have to say about the glory that is the frog game boom.
Finally, the indie scene has caught up to my vision!
So here you go readers- let’s talk about some frog games as well as the frog games I am watching and checking in on instead of getting a job that pays money. Get hyped. Hail the froggie.
Frog Detective.
Sadly, this game is in first person, so you do not get to spend much time looking at the frog’s glorious little face. However, he makes up for this by being hilarious. Plus, all the other characters are pretty cute.
There are actually several Frog detective games since this is the leader of the frog trend.
The games are send-ups of old-school point-and-click mysteries, with very light puzzle elements and a lot of fun dialog. I can promise you will get into a lot of hijinks and silliness, but never get scared. It’s wholesome shit.
These games are a delight, go get them on steam. Right now.
Frog Village:
An upcoming life sim game in which there is a derpy little frog mailman. IT’s coming out for both For steam and mobile. Which is cool. I might get this one on my phone since I have to socialize again and I am bad at it.
Terrible honestly. The most awkward. Just my aura will drive you to drink.
I just think it would help to be able to pretend to text in social situations while actually getting a strong hit of a straight frog.
I just need that frog game on the down-low. Then I’ll be good man.
Frogun
Frogun is short for frog gun. Which already. Amazing.
This game takes its inspo from the n64 era, with cute low poly visuals and cartoony designs. It’s also a 3d platformer. With a frog gun.
There’s already a demo out if you like that sort of thing, and are not an impatient little goblin-like me who will end up just wanting the game to be out already and get fustrated.
Kind Words- Lofi Beats to Write to
Look, it says it has this frog. I don’t know what more I can tell you.
Garden Story
I have been excited for Garden Story for a while since it combined pixel art farming simulation, frog protagonist, and grape people. There’s even a grape person on my Wholesome direct merch shirt, which is pretty good.
I really love farming sims, so this frog one is at the top of the list. This is a shame since I don’t have enough subscribers to get the key.
Everyone will beat me to the garden story. I am a failure.
(EDIT: Garden Story released on Switch while I was editing this peice. Go enjoy while I sulk about)
Frog song
Frog Song is a hand-drawn 2d frog-centric adventure game. Which is a sentence I am so happy I get to write. Thank god for indie games putting out fun shit like this. Remember when games got dark and gritty and you got like 3 quirky fun wholesome games a year if you were lucky?
God damn, I am old.
So those are the frog games I am looking forward to this year, as well as OG Frog Detective. If you haven’t seen my video on Kero Blaster, a pixel platformer starring a frog with a gun, be sure to check that out here.
See you next week Jaunty Gamers!
